Possible Love
<div>Making headlines at this year's <i>Venice International Film Festival,</i> <i>Toronto International Film Festival</i> and it's jaw-dropping, perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, <i>Possible Love </i>is Director Lee Chang- dong’s (<i>Burning</i>, 2018) first film in eight years. Possible Love follows two married couples - a laid-off worker and his wife, and a documentary filmmaker and her husband - whose paths cross when the filmmaker sets out to film them, bringing both marriages face to face with their different lives and hidden desires. A tale of deep yearning, envy, and grief, the film features <i>Parasite (2019)</i>'s Cho Yeo-jeong, along with Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu and Zo In-sung, marking one of the biggest ensembles of powerhouse Korean talent to appear together in a single film.</div><div><br></div><div>For Ho-seok and Mi-ok, the hope is to move on from the trauma caused by the disastrous outcome of a labour dispute. When they are approached by young, ambitious documentary filmmaker, Ye-ji, to take part in her latest project, they become intimately intertwined with her and her business mogul husband, Sang-woo. </div><div><div><br></div><div>Revelations of interpersonal suffering come to light — both in front of and behind the camera — as the documentary develops, and tensions between the couples start to rise. Questions are asked around who gets to tell whose story, who speaks for whom, and what responsibilities observers have when taking on the perspective of the disenfranchised.
