The session confronts the ongoing impacts and hidden histories of colonisation in Australia while highlighting the critical role storytelling plays in reclaiming narrative, preserving culture and shaping futures. </div><div style=""><br></div><div style="">For generations, film and media have influenced how Australia understands its history and identity, often excluding or misrepresenting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island voices. This conversation creates space for creatives and leaders to share how storytelling can challenge dominant narratives, spark difficult conversations and build a deeper public understanding of justice, sovereignty and survival. </div><div style=""><br></div><div style="">Through Firekeepers and an in-depth discussion, the audience will hear directly from those using film to keep stories, truth and culture alive for future generations. </div></div><div style=""><br></div><div>This captivating 15-minute documentary chronicles the transformative journey of a Wiradjuri community as they embrace and reintegrate traditional cultural burning practices into their fire management plans, embarking on a profound path towards healing their land, and the challenges they face within a contemporary post colonised society.</div><div><br></div><div><b>FIREKEEPERS </b>is an intimate story that delves into the efforts of a community to restore cultural knowledge, heal the land in traditional ways, and safeguard against the ever-increasing danger of bushfires.
